The Planning & Zoning Commission is a quasi-judicial body made up of 7 individuals who have been appointed by Town Council to review and act on matters related to planning and development. Commissioners provide recommendations on a wide array of land-use issues including subdivision plats, zoning ordinance amendments, Special Use Permits, and general plan amendments.
The Board of Adjustment, consisting of the seven members of the Planning & Zoning Commission (appointed by the Town Council), reviews cases relating to variances to the Zoning Ordinance. Occasionally, these meetings are cancelled when there are no cases to include on the agenda.
The Economic Development Advisory Board (EDAB), comprising of the seven members of the Planning and Zoning Commission (appointed by the Town Council), provides a public forum for discussing economic development issues, initiatives, and projects along with shaping, reviewing, and recommending economic development policies for Town Council consideration.
The Development Review Board, consisting of the seven members of the Planning & Zoning Commission (appointed by the Town Council), is responsible for carrying out the purposes of the Zoning Ordinance. Their duties include reviewing commercial site plans, mountainside subdivisions and lots, and other development-related matters.
The Carefree Water Company board, comprising members of the Carefree Town Council, convenes to deliberate on various issues such as projects, budgets, and other operational matters of the Carefree Water Company. Their discussions ensure the efficient management and development of the town's water resources and infrastructure.
The Sky Ranch Community Relations Committee consists of representatives appointed by both the Town Council and Sky Ranch. This committee meets quarterly to address concerns, discuss the impact of airport activities on the community, and ensure a harmonious relationship by acting as a liaison between the airport and the town.
The Public Safety Advisory Committee, appointed by the Town Council, is dedicated to overseeing public safety matters in Carefree, with a particular focus on fire and emergency services. They play a crucial role in shaping, reviewing, and recommending policies to enhance public safety within the community, ensuring effective coordination and response across these vital services.
