Attention Residents,
There will be a General Election on November 5, 2024. On the ballot will be Proposition 493 – A proposal to approve and ratify the “Carefree General Plan,” adopted by the Carefree Town Council in Resolution No. 2024-04 as the Town’s new General Plan, which is a policy document setting forth the community’s long-term goals and expectations for future growth and development.
Arguments supporting and opposing the proposition must be filed with the office of the Town Clerk by 4:30 p.m. August 7, 2024.
Arguments supporting or opposing propositions appearing on the ballot shall meet the following requirements pursuant to A.R.S. § 19-124:
Arguments must relate to the proposition appearing on the ballot.
Arguments must identify the proposition to which they refer and indicate whether the argument is in support of or opposition to the proposition.
Arguments shall not exceed three hundred words in length.
Arguments must contain the original signature of each person sponsoring it.
Arguments submitted by organizations shall be signed by two executive officers of the organization, or if a political committee sponsors the argument, the committee’s chairperson or treasurer must sign it. All persons signing documents shall indicate their residence or post office address and a telephone number, which information shall not appear in the publicity pamphlet. All signatures must be notarized before submission. NO EXCEPTIONS.
No person or organization shall submit more than one argument for each proposition to be voted upon.
Each argument shall be accompanied by payment in the amount of $25 to offset the proportional costs of printing. This requirement shall not be waived. If the proportional costs of printing are less than the amount deposited, the excess shall be refunded to the depositor at such time as final costs are determined. Payments made by credit card will be charged a $4 processing fee.
