GENERAL PLAN PUBLIC HEARING DRAFT:

The draft General Plan was unanimously adopted by the Town Council at its July 2, 2024, Regular Meeting. Past drafts, Commission and Council work sessions, and Commission and Council public hearings along with the final draft to be ratified by Carefree voters in November of this year is below.

Announcement and Solicitation for Pro-Con Arguments Regarding the General Plan Update

There will be a General Election on November 5, 2024. On the ballot will be Proposition 493 – A proposal to approve and ratify the “Carefree General Plan,” adopted by the Carefree Town Council in Resolution No. 2024-04 as the Town’s new General Plan, which is a policy document setting forth the community’s long-term goals and  expectations for future growth and development.

Arguments supporting and opposing the proposition must be filed with the office of the Town Clerk by 4:30 p.m. August 7, 2024.

The Town of Carefree is excited to announce its ongoing General Plan update, a significant planning document that will chart the Town's vision and management for the next 10-20 years. The General Plan covers crucial topics such as land use, circulation, water resources, open space, and more, all of which play a vital role in shaping our community's future. 

To comply with State Law, the General Plan must undergo review by the Town Council and be ratified by the voters of Carefree. In the spirit of inclusivity and to ensure that the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of all community members, the town invites everyone to actively participate in the General Plan Update workshops.
