Carefree Town Council Vacancy and Solicitation for Candidates
The Town of Carefree has reluctantly accepted the resignation of Town Councilmember Tony Geiger. The Town is grateful for his many years of service on the Cave Creek Water Advisory Committee and the Carefree Town Council.
The Town Council shall appoint by majority vote a duly qualified person to fill the unexpired term of this vacant position pursuant to Town of Carefree Code Section 2-1-3. Persons interested in being appointed to fill this vacancy must be at least 18 years old, and a qualified elector (registered voter) residing within the Town boundaries for at least one year prior to the appointment by the Town Council as more fully set forth in A.R.S. § 16-311. Council members serve without compensation. The term runs through December, 2026.
Those interested in serving must submit a letter of interest and a resume to the Town Clerk, Kandace French Contreras, via email at kandace@carefree.org or by delivering the letter and resume at Town Hall no later than the close of business Friday, June 16, 2023.
Candidates shall be a resident of the town of Carefree and shall have been a resident of the town for a minimum of one year at the time of appointment.
The Town Council will appoint a candidate to fill the Council vacancy at the July 11, 2023 Town Council meeting.
The Town of Carefree is hiring a Certied ICC Building Official to join our outstanding team. The sucessful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in building construction, surveying, plumbing, and electrical, including a minimum of 3 years of experience as a municipal Building Inspector and a minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience.
