Weekdays are great, but fall weekends in the Carefree Desert Gardens are a whole new experience this year! Lots of NEW exhibits and activities for the entire family to experience! Renowned artist, Ray Villafane will debut his collection of Scarecrows for the first time, a new pumpkin town will emerge, and when the sun goes down the ScarefreeNights come to life! You will want to "adopt" a pumpkin from the enchanted pumpkin patch, enjoy scrumptious pumpkin autumnal food selections by AZFeastivals, and join in on the pumpkin pie eating contest and much MORE! The COLOSSAL 400 lb. pumpkins will be on their best behavior for photos and make sure you spot ALL of the pumpkins living and playing in the Garden!*
Kids can interact with the artists (Ray Villafane pictured) and learn how to carve and sculpt up-close!
This 450 lb. Atlantic Giant pumpkin was grown in California and shipped to Carefree to be carved by artist Paola Acuna

Ray Villafane teaches pumpkin carving techniques at the YMCA Carving Nights in the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion.
This may look like a real Saguaro Cactus but it was sculpted, molded and painted by Villafane Studios. The pumpkins are placed in a special pickling solution to keep them fresh for the 2 week exhibit. They will last up to 12 months in this preservation tank.
